News Flash “Eco therapy and Art therapy”

Eco therapy is not a new fad therapy.  It is the oldest known form of stress reduction and personal growth. It was done thousands of years ago by our ancestors.  It was common around fires, in caves, on high places, by the water.  Places where man found solace in his connection with nature.  Places where he could be reminded of the wonders of life itself.  Rewards that made his often painful experiences worth living.  It has returned to remind us that what we create is not miraculous.  It is to remind us that what we have been given to create with is a land of plenty.

Art therapy has been the oldest and most recognized aspect of early eco therapy.  It is believed that this form of eco connection evolved before man had a formal language.  Art seems to indicate our desire to commune with nature in a spiritual fashion with color, form and shape.  This expression allows us to feel spiritually whole.

  1. Thanks for your good ecotherapy work, Michael.

Just wanted to make sure you knew about the new anthology from Sierra Club Books, “Ecotherapy: Healing with Nature in Mind,” which offers essays from folks like Joanna Macy, David Orr, Bill McKibben and many more.
